Practice Never Makes Perfect … What Does?
THIS WEEK’S NEW FEATURED EPISODE
“DISCERN” Episode #16: “Practice NEVER Makes Perfect. What Does?”
Hello GIVERS — Here is your weekly relationship contribution from GIVERS University.
Perfect Practice Makes Perfect
The first step in learning to Practice Perfectly is being able to change the premise of your thought process. When your thoughts change, your actions can change and your end result will be more perfect. Be willing to change the premise of your thought process.
GIVERS Habit #1 Contains 6 Words: Thought Change Through Truthful Premise Change. Let’s explore each one of these to gain a deeper understanding of this Habit.
Thought: As we have learned, over 40% of what people do each day is automatic (done without thinking or thoughtless). GIVERS discern and think about “all” of their actions.
Change: GIVERS have the ability to change. Truth and correctness are more important to a GIVER than simply being “right.”
Through Truthful: A GIVER may change their thoughts through a process of truthfulness. Truth can be defined as; with two or more witnesses, a matter is established or truthful.
Premise Change: To change a proposition on which a frame of reference or argument is based. A GIVER has cultivated the ability to change how they think about a certain subject matter when a matter has been clearly and concisely proven conclusively.
A GIVER strives for clarity on matters and thoughts. GIVERS can and will change the premise of their thoughts when based on truthful and accurate facts. Having thoughts based on truthful and accurate facts GIVEs a GIVER solace.
Takers Habit #1: Thought premises are static, even when proven false. “False” and “Fully” both start with the letter “F;” however, they have much more in common. The Taker’s thought premises are static. When a premise is static, it is a premise that has no motion. Static means motionless. To persist in a thought process or thought premise even when proven false is, in fact, folly.
Thoughts which are motionless are not able to change. Worse yet, a Taker who has a static thought premise makes the conscience choice to “not change” their thoughts.
The Author has personally witnessed at least three reasons Takers make the choice not to change the premise of their thoughts.
- Out of Ignorance: Simply not knowing and choosing not to learn the facts.
- Stubborn Folly: Being stubborn for no good reason. Simply put, being stubborn for the mere sake of being stubborn. This is when the Taker must always “be right” at any and all costs or reasons, even when presented with conclusive facts.
- Spite: When a Taker chooses not to change their thought premise to literally and foolishly spite or aggravate someone else.
There are certainly more reasons than these three as to why Takers’ thought premises are static, even when proven false. Certainly, this Takers Habit #1 is governed by the 3 D’s of Takers; namely Defeatism, Disruption, and Destruction.
Be very careful when associating with Takers who present this Takers Habit #1. What could possibly follow in a relationship which is built and maintained on a thoughtful premise that remains false or folly?
The answer is: Defeatism, Disruption, and Destruction of the relationship.
